Carissa primarily offers concert percussion and drum set lessons. She also provides beginner and intermediate piano, guitar, and music theory lessons. Carissa teaches all levels of percussion as well as early childhood music. Holding a Bachelor’s degree in music education, Carissa has experience teaching every age level and has taught in the Houston and DFW metro areas for 4+ years.

Carissa is a passionate performer of all types of music. At the age of 5, she began her musical journey playing piano. As she grew older, she learned guitar, then joined band in 5th grade where she began playing percussion. Since then, she has performed in a number of impressive venues such as Carnegie Hall and the Miller Outdoor Theater. She is an active freelance performer, working as a guest artist with the American Festival of the Arts Symphony Orchestra, the Virtuosi of Houston, and the Las Colinas Symphony Orchestra.

Teaching Philosophy

Carissa believes in always putting students first. A good education of any kind is built around an end goal of the student becoming the master, therefore Carissa tries to teach students to be self-sufficient and proactive. She strives to instill confidence, good character, and work ethic in her students so they can become great people in and out of music.
